- Sugar Ray is the founding father of Soul Village. He is the driving force behind this powerful band. Ray’s energy is what makes Soul Village the hardest working band in Pittsburgh. Ray started the band in 2,000 to get a much needed change in the Pittsburgh local blues scene. Ray has also started Special Edition, and the Déjà Vu band. Ray got his start in the late 80’s as a recording artist with fellow singer song writer John Medlen, in the band XLR8 with their album Master Piece of Love. Ray’s showmanship and ability to entertain rival that of any professional touring performer.
