BIOGRAPHY:
The Mystic Knights
Meet the Mystic Knights

The Mystic Knights came together out of a pick-up band in 1984 at the historic Decade, nationally known as the area's "Home of the Blues." They have compiled no fewer than 10 "In Pittsburgh" magazine awards, "City Paper" honors and numerous televised appearances on WTAE, WQED and KDKA-TV. The Knights have also appeared in a number of Iron City Beer commercials featuring their popular number "Spread Yourself Around."

Recently, the Knights have been a frequent favorite at Heinz Field,
pumping up the Steeler fans with an exciting pre-game show and have performed for the Pirates "following the last out" at the Hall of Fame Club at PNC Park!

The Mystic Knights' has shared a bill with some of the world's finest blues acts including:

BB King, Johnny Winter, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayall, Koko Taylor, Robert Cray and blues legend, John Hammond, to name a few.

Their full on passion to the genre is more than evident in their 200+ performances a year.
As the Mystic Knights celebrate almost 25 years of honest, hard driving blues, they forge ahead--paying homage to the past, as they cultivate a new generation of blues enthusiasts.

Meet the band members...

Founding member, keyboardist and songwriter, Gil "the Duke" Snyder, has moved into the city's music Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed upon area artists achieving 3 consecutive "Best of Pittsburgh" wins. Joining Walt Harper, Joe Negri, Tommy James, Kenny Blake and Porky Chedwick in the hallowed venue. Snyder, one of the original Iron City Houserockers, has worked both in the studio and on stage with Springsteen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Little Steven, Steve Cropper and Mick Ronson. Snyder's name appears as the writer of six songs on the Iron City Houserocker's second album. "Have a Good Time, But Get Out Alive" won Rolling Stone Magazine's Jazz and Pop Critics' Poll, receiving four stars and finishing higher than a Rolling Stone's entry.

Craig King: Amazing vocalist and incredible guitarist, Craig is a Pittsburgh native who has performed with several area bands playing various genres of music including the blues....former blues guitarist for Andrea Pearl and Mo's Black Magic. Craig's passion is the guitar, influenced by some of the greats, Jimi Hendrix, George Benson, BB King, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray. As a vocalist, he can deliver the blues and then some.

The strongest rythm section around belongs to the Mystic Knights, featuring drummer Joe Cunningham and, on bass, Harry McCorkle. Harry has played with Big Walter Horton (harp player for Muddy Waters), Louisiana Red and Sugar Blue (harp player for the Stones). Harry has recorded with Rocky Fuller (Chess Records) and has performed with the backup band for The Capitols ("Cool Jerk").
