- BIOGRAPHY:
- I am a scholar of science, technology and culture. I write about all the arts as well as philosophy, but currently working on jazz and the interior experiences of improvising jazz musicians from the perspectives of emergent and distributed cognition. I attended the Berklee College of Music from 1974-6, and played professionally for a little over four years before going back to school to finish a Ph.D. in English at the University of Michigan in 1989. I have been a professor at several universities, but followed my wife to Pittsburgh where she is tenured at PSU-Greater Allegheny. I am currently an independent scholar and house husband, living in Mt. Lebanon.
