MUSIC GENRE(s): What music style(s) do you perform and/or are you in to?
My musical tastes and abilities range from Broadway showstoppers to Evanescence and various places in between that require one to sing and not scream. Not crazy about listening to Country, but can sing the hell out of it. I have a natural ability to sing harmony and can hold my own with strong voices.
CONTRIBUTION TO LIVE MUSIC: (what's your game?): Are you a performer, act, enthusiast (fan), promoter, venue, publisher, photographer, what service, etc?
Lead and backing vocalist.
BIOGRAPHY:
I started singing on stage in community theater productions at the age of seven, and pretty much have had the bug since. I performed with the bands Northbound, Secretariat, and Archer (briefly,) in the 80’s before getting out of the music scene to pursue the suburban dream of marriage, kids, and the whole white picket fence thing. A yearlong bout with cancer woke me up to the fact that life’s too short and the repressed performer in me began to re-emerge. Started performing again in 2000 at musicians’ reunions, and various Broadway type revues with a local performing arts studio.
As for my recent history, I did some studio work with Tobacco Road for their self-titled CD; performed with the South on 65 Band; and sit in with my good friends the Blues Junkies at various gigs. I am now involved in two projects as lead vocalist; one Blues/Rock (Blue Dawn;) and the other softer, "vintage" rock (Rendition.) Look for both Rendition and Blue Dawn appearing around town this winter!
You were great last night w/THE BLUES JUNKIES. I wish you had done more tunes with them. I hope I get to hear and/or sit in on you again. I do believe you are 'the real deal.'
